Secure exchange platform helps law enforcement

Brief

Law enforcement and national security agencies work with telecommunications carriers to exchange critical telecommunications data.

The legacy cross-agency request management system which manages this work was nearing end-of-life and required replacement.

Challenge

The legacy request management system was nearing end-of life and required security and functionality upgrades.

The critical system was in use by 22 law enforcement and national security agencies and all major telecommunications carriers to exchange telecommunications data.

A review was required to re-imagine and design a new system which meets the needs of the diverse users.

Solution

  • Engage with 22 law enforcement and national security agencies and all major telecommunications carriers to gather detailed system and user requirements

  • Understand legislative requirements

  • Produce process maps of the current and future state systems

  • Design and cost a modernised, stable, secure, and scalable platform

Outcomes

  • A shared understanding of the issues and risks of the current system has been documented

  • A conceptual architecture envisions a secure and scalable future-state system

  • Indicative costings suggest the required investment
