Dynamic and smart MVP drives streamlined digital experience for Aboriginal Organisations

Brief

The Coalition of Aboriginal Peak Organisations (CAPO) wanted to transform their complex pricing spreadsheet into a streamlined online tool to support Aboriginal Community-Controlled Organisations to calculate the real costs of engaging with government.

The online tool needed to consider the diverse needs and perspectives of Aboriginal organisations across NSW catering for both large and small organisations, in rural and metro locations, with varying levels of experience engaging with government.

Challenge

The existing pricing tool was a complex Excel spreadsheet, with more than thirty tabs and over a thousand lines of input required by users.

Users included people in remote areas, with limited time to spend using the tool.

It was essential that the new digital MVP kept the intelligence underpinning the existing Excel, while making it easier and more intuitive to use.

Solution

• The functionality of the spreadsheet was deconstructed to reimagine a streamlined digital experience flow.

• The new flow leveraged the rich source data while reducing inputs from users.

• The MVP leveraged data to prepopulate information, while tailoring questions based on user input.

• This means users see only what is relevant to them and spend less time calculating their costs.

Outcomes

• The final online MVP tool offers a simplified user experience which dramatically reduces the time required to calculate engagement costs and will act as a significant enabler to support NSW government Closing the Gap goals.
